FAQ
This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?

You've decided to capture something special! Before we begin, please be sure that your child has eaten a good meal (and maybe pack a couple of session snacks in case we need a break!). I recommend bringing a change of clothes in case we need them.

What should my child wear?

Consider the type of activity we are capturing. Are we out with animals? Splashing in the water? Playing in the snow? That will determine the best outfit choice - most important, we want your child to be comfortable! Neutrals are always a great choice if possible as loud colors can detract from the photo. A couple different types of shoes are ways nice to have, too!

How many pictures will I receive?

I typically don't give a number on this for one main reason: it depends on the shoot. What I can guarantee is that you will get as many good shots as I take!

Are you available outside of Southwest Michigan?

Yes! I have traveled before and would love to travel for your shoot! Pricing for your package will reflect travel expenses.

Do you do family photography?

It depends! I prefer portrait photography with one to two subjects per session. However, lifestyle shoots are one of my all time favorites! This is essentially where I act like a fly on the wall and capture your family as is. If you are looking for a more traditional family setting where everyone is lined up and looking at the camera, I can recommend some other great photographers for this!

Why don't you show kid's faces on your site or socials?

I am a strong believer that kids should not be on the internet. I won't post my child's face on the internet, and I won't post yours either. That being said, your beliefs may be different and you may choose to share the photos yourself on your own pages! That is a parent's decision to make, and a photographer should not be using those photos to drum up business.

I have multiple children. Can they do a combined session?

Siblings have such a special connection, and a combined session is a great way to show it! Keep in mind that group sessions mean each child may get fewer solo photos. Some parents like to book an individual session for each child first, then end with a combined shoot so everyone has both personal and shared portraits. If you book two or more individual sessions in one day, your group session fee at the end would be waived.

How long are sessions?

Sessions times vary depending on what the goal of the session is. For example, our animal sessions are typically 30 minutes to make sure that we are not stressing out the animals but we have enough time to capture the photos. Other sessions are typically an hour. While that may seem long, the goal is to keep things relaxed and unhurried — more like an hour of play for your child while I capture moments from a distance. Even if your child doesn’t make it through the full hour, that’s perfectly fine! Just ten minutes of focused time can provide plenty of beautiful images to treasure.
